Valfonta PRV44 Direct-Acting Pressure Reducer

The Valfonta PRV44 is a self-acting pressure reducer suitable for liquids, gases, and steam. The valve operates without external energy or impulse lines. The downstream pressure acts on the internal bellows balancing system, closing the valve when the outlet pressure exceeds the set point.

Media and Sealing

The PRV44 is compatible with Group 1 and Group 2 fluids, including steam, compressed air, water, nitrogen, fuel oil, and inert gases. Standard sealing includes graphite PTFE, PTFE, and Viton, with optional soft seals in EPDM, PEEK, Viton, or Aflas depending on the medium.

Applications

Used in chemical laboratories, small steam installations, heat exchangers, compressed air systems, sprinkler systems, fuel oil systems, laundries, dry cleaners, and auxiliary process networks. The low Kvs makes it suitable for local pressure reductions rather than central high-flow stations.

Installation and Selection

Recommended installation includes upstream filters, inlet/outlet pressure gauges, isolation valves, and a downstream safety valve. Piping should be cleaned prior to installation, and valves should be opened slowly to prevent water hammer. Selection requires p1, p2, flow rate, medium, temperature, Kvs, connection, and sealing materials.
