Berluto DRV 732-D / DRV 738-D Stainless Steel Pressure Reducing Valve for Steam

The Berluto DRV 732-D and DRV 738-D are direct-acting, piston-operated, spring-loaded, single-seat pressure reducing valves with inlet pressure compensation. This series is primarily designed for steam and hot water applications, with the capability to handle aggressive waters, non-sticky aggressive fluids, air, and neutral gases, provided material compatibility is confirmed.

Technical Specifications

  • DN15–DN50.
  • Internal thread G 1/2” to G 2” according to ISO 228.
  • Optional NPT thread according to ASME B1.20.1.
  • Maximum inlet pressure p1: 16 bar.
  • DRV 732-D: outlet pressure 2–5 bar.
  • DRV 738-D: outlet pressure 4–10 bar.
  • Minimum differential pressure p1–p2: 0.3 bar.
  • Kvs: 3.6–14.0 m³/h, depending on DN.
  • Operating temperature up to 200°C, depending on sealing material.

Materials and Sealing

The body and spring cap are made of stainless steel 1.4408. Wetted internal parts are stainless steel 1.4404. For steam up to 150°C, PTFE/EPDM arrangement is used. For applications up to 200°C, PTFE/EPDM/FEPM is specified, with a lower limit of +20°C.

Difference Between DRV 732-D and DRV 738-D

The DRV 732-D is selected when the required downstream pressure is in the range of 2–5 bar. The DRV 738-D covers a higher adjustment range of 4–10 bar. Selection should be based on p1, p2, steam mass flow, temperature, Kvs, and permissible flow velocity, not solely on pipe DN.

Installation and Maintenance

The series features replaceable internal parts and dual G 1/4” gauge connections for outlet pressure indication. Installation position can be any, with a preference for vertical. The technical datasheet references PED 2014/68/EU and potential classification approvals from DNV GL, ABS, LR, CCS, and BV.

Description

DRV 732-D / 738-D

Pressure reducing valves of the series are piston-controlled, spring-loaded pressure reducing valves and have an inlet pressure compensation. The cartridge design allows easy replacement of the internal parts. Due to the sealing materials used, the series are ideally suited for steam applications.

Nominal size DN 15 up to DN 50

Inlet pressure up to 16 bar

Outlet pressure from 2 up to 10 bar

Temperature range -30°C to 200°C

Certificates

CE-certification according to the European Pressure Equipment Directive is mandatory for numerous products and delivery areas. Other certificates, however, are certificates of individual quality, such as DVGW and DIN EN ISO 9001, which stands for the internal quality management system  with its extensive functional and performance checks. The particularly strict regulations of the national rules and regulations guarantee the highest possible safety - especially when it comes to the reliability in your plant.
