ICP R150RF / R300RF – Forged Piston Check Valve

The ICP R150RF / R300RF is a reduced bore forged piston check valve with RF flanged ends per ASME B16.5. Designed for unidirectional flow control in pipelines where mechanical prevention of reverse flow is required without actuator or external control. Available in sizes 1/2"–2" (DN15–DN50), ASME Class 150 or Class 300.

Construction and Materials

  • Body/Bonnet: ASTM A105 (carbon steel) or ASTM A182 F316L (stainless steel)
  • Piston: A276 420 (carbon steel version) or A182 F316L (stainless version)
  • Seat: A105 + STL or F316L + STL
  • Gasket: AISI 304 + graphite or AISI 316 + graphite
  • Bolting: ASTM A193 B7 or A193 B8M
  • Spring: 17-4 PH

Standards and Testing

Design in accordance with BS 5352, MSS SP 118, ASME B16.34. Tightness tested per API 598, pressure testing per EN 12266-1, marking per EN 19. Supplied with EN 10204 2.2 certification. Complies with CE, PED 2014/68/EU, ATEX Group II Cat. 2, and NACE requirements.

Operating Conditions and Selection

Selection between Class 150 and Class 300 must be based on actual pressure–temperature conditions, not nominal line pressure. Manufacturer P/T charts indicate pressure derating at elevated temperatures, with different limits for A105 and F316L materials.

Suitable media: steam, water, thermal fluids, petroleum products, and chemicals compatible with A105 or F316L. For corrosive media, F316L is recommended after verifying concentration, temperature, and chloride content.

Industrial Applications

  • Steam bypass and auxiliary lines
  • Feed pump discharge and drain lines
  • Petrochemical and refinery utility services
  • Chemical plant small-bore lines
  • Oil, water, and condensate networks

FAQ

Is an actuator required? No. The piston operates via differential pressure and returns by spring force.
Is it suitable for slurry? Not as standard. Solid particles may affect seat, piston, and sealing integrity.
When to select Class 300? When Class 150 pressure-temperature ratings are insufficient for process or design conditions.
