TORAFLEX S20 – Double Sphere Flexible Connector with Loose Flanges

The TORAFLEX S20 is installed in piping systems where vibration, noise, hydraulic shock, and thermal movement absorption are required. The double sphere design allows for greater axial, lateral, and angular displacement compared to single sphere versions S10/S15.

Construction and Connections

  • Type: Double sphere elastomeric expansion joint.
  • DN: 32–600.
  • Nominal pressure: PN10 / PN16.
  • Flanges: EN 1092-1 PN10, EN 1092-1 PN16, or ASME B16.5 Class 150.
  • Marking: EN 19.
  • Pressure testing: EN 12266-1.
  • Elastomer body reinforced with nylon cord and steel wire.
  • Loose flanges: galvanized carbon steel S235JR to EN 10025.

Operating Limits

For S20, maximum working pressure is 16 bar up to DN300 and 10 bar for DN350–DN600. For vacuum service, the catalogue specifies a limit of -0.80 bar-g up to DN600, with reinforced versions available for critical vacuum applications.

Allowable Movements

  • DN32–DN80: compression 25 mm, elongation 15 mm, lateral 20 mm, angular 30°.
  • DN100–DN150: compression 30 mm, elongation 20 mm, lateral 25 mm, angular 30°.
  • DN200–DN600: compression 40 mm, elongation 25 mm, lateral 30 mm, angular 30°.

Values apply for single-direction movement. Combined displacements or elevated temperature reduce available movement and cycle life.

Materials and Media Compatibility

EPDM: water, hot water, glycols, diluted chemicals. NBR: oils, fuels, LPG, oily air. Neoprene: water, various inorganic/organic media. Hypalon: diluted acids/bases, chlorine environments. Viton: acids, hydrocarbons, oils, ozone (limited for hot water/steam).

Applications

Used in pump stations, HVAC, cooling networks, industrial water, compressed air, lubrication, marine auxiliary circuits, and processes with compatible fluids or gases. No actuator; selection based on DN, PN, medium, temperature, vacuum, movement, and pipe anchoring.

Certifications

Declaration of conformity covers S10, S15, S20, S30, S32 series, referencing EN 1092-1 and EN 12266-1. Products are outside PED 2014/68/EU, Article 1.2(O) scope.

Description

Rubber joints consisting of a flexible main shell made of synthetic rubber with inner reinforcements. Pipe connections by means of loose flanges. For absorbing vibrations and noise caused by equipment such as pumps, machinery, etc., or balancing thermal movements in rigid systems due to temperature changes, as well as balancing slight pipe works misalignments.

Rubber joints can withstand surge pressures and mitigate the effects caused by water hammers. More capacity to absorb movements thanks to their double sphere design Specification of the range:

Diverse design combinations by materials of construction, nominal size range (DN32-DN600), design pressure range (PN10-16), root ring depending on pressure and other versions.

Other typical denominations: Flexible rubber joints, elastomeric joints, rubber expansion joints, rubber compensatos

Applications: Water, HVAC, lubrication, compressed air, process, etc.
