TORAFLEX S15 – Single Sphere Elastomeric Vibration Isolator, L=130 mm

The TORAFLEX S15 is a flanged elastomeric connector designed for vibration, noise, hydraulic shock absorption, and minor pipe misalignments in rigid piping systems. The S15 series maintains a fixed installation length of 130 mm across DN25–DN300, which is advantageous for retrofit applications with limited available space.

Construction and Connections

The elastomeric body is vulcanized and reinforced with nylon cord and steel wire. Loose flanges are manufactured from galvanized carbon steel S235JR (EN 10025). Flange drillings available: PN10, PN16, and ANSI Class 150.

Operating Limits

For S10/S15/S20 series, nominal pressure ratings are PN10/PN16, compliant with EN 1092-1 and ASME B16.5 Class 150. Marking per EN 19, pressure testing per EN 12266-1. Maximum operating pressure for DN32–DN300 is 16 bar. With PTFE lining, the limit is 7 bar. S15 up to DN300 is rated for vacuum service to -0.90 bar-g; full vacuum available on request.

Movement Capabilities

For DN25–DN300, allowable movements:

  • Axial compression: 12 mm
  • Axial elongation: 10 mm
  • Lateral offset: 12 mm
  • Angular deflection: 15°

Values apply for single-direction movement. Combined loading or elevated temperature reduces allowable movement and cycle life.

Elastomer Materials

  • EPDM: water, hot water, glycols, dilute acids/alkalis, intermittent steam.
  • NBR: lubricants, fuels, oils, LPG, oily air, natural gas.
  • Neoprene / Hypalon / Viton: selected based on chemical resistance, temperature, and process media.

Applications

Suitable for HVAC, pump stations, cooling circuits, industrial water, lubrication, compressed air, and auxiliary process lines. No actuator is used; selection is based on DN, PN, media, temperature, movement, and anchor/guide arrangement.

FAQ

When to select S15 over S10?
When a single sphere with a fixed installation length of 130 mm is required across DN25–DN300.

Is it covered by PED?
Declaration of conformity states S10, S15, S20, S30, and S32 series are outside PED 2014/68/EU, Article 1.2(O), with reference to EN 1092-1 and EN 12266-1.

Description

Rubber joints consisting of a flexible main shell made of synthetic rubber with inner reinforcements. Pipe connections by means of loose flanges. For absorbing vibrations and noise caused by equipment such as pumps, machinery, etc., or balancing thermal movements in rigid systems due to temperature changes, as well as balancing slight pipe works misalignments.

Rubber joints can withstand surge pressures and mitigate the effects caused by water hammers. Length 130 mm for all sizes Specification of the range:

Diverse design combinations by materials of construction, nominal size range (DN25-DN300), design pressure range (PN10-16), as well as accessories.

Other typical denominations: Flexible rubber joints, elastomeric joints, rubber expansion joints, rubber compensators

Applications: Water, HVAC, lubrication, compressed air, process, etc.
