Bellino Angle Type – Angular Control Valve

The Bellino Angle Type is an angular control valve designed for automatic regulation of liquid or gas flow, particularly when a 90° directional change and throttling are required within the same valve body. It serves as the final control element in pressure, level, flow, or temperature loops.

Construction and Trim

Bellino angle valves are available with the same materials and trims as straight control valves, including GVPC contoured trim, GVCH cage trim, and GVLN low-noise trim. Trim selection is based on Cv, Δp, fluid conditions, cavitation/flashing, noise, and required seat leakage.

Dimensions and Connections

Technical catalogs feature angle versions from NPS 1 to NPS 16 / DN25 to DN400, with tables for ANSI 150, ANSI 300, and ANSI 600, RF/RJ connections, and dimensioning according to ANSI/ISA 75.08.08 up to 8" and ASME B16.10 for 10"–16".

Typical Applications

  • High Δp liquid letdown
  • Steam, condensate, and boiler feedwater lines
  • Gas pressure let-down
  • Heater drains and blowdown service
  • Installations where the valve also functions as an angular piping component

The angular geometry reduces additional piping components but requires control of outlet velocities, erosion, and mechanical loads on nozzles.

Sealing and Standards

Seat leakage is defined by ANSI/FCI 70-2. Bellino offers leakage classes IV, V, and VI, with metal-to-metal seating for Class IV/V and resilient seat for Class VI. General valve design references include ASME B16.34, API 6A, API 600, and ASME BPVC where applicable.

Actuation

Compatible with pneumatic spring-diaphragm actuators, positioners, I/P converters, filter regulators, solenoids, boosters, and limit switches. The fail position is selected based on process operation and differential pressure.

FAQ

When to choose angular over straight globe?
When a 90° flow change, high Δp, or better erosion/flashing management at the outlet is required.

Selection Criteria: Medium, Cv, P1/P2, temperature, vapor pressure, Δp, leakage class, trim type, materials, and actuator thrust.

Description

Angle Valves plays a very important role in the automatic control of installations which depend on the distribution and the correct amount of liquids or gases flow control.
