KITO B3N – Vent Cap Without Flame Arrester

The KITO® Rh/o-… B3N is a tank vent cap designed for atmospheric venting applications. It provides protection of tank contents from rain, foreign objects, and external contamination, while allowing unrestricted gas flow to atmosphere and air ingress into the tank or pipeline. The technical documentation explicitly states that no KITO® flame arrester element is integrated.

• Installations where certified flame arresters are not required
• Prevention of vacuum lock by enabling free air intake

This device is not suitable as a flashback protection measure. For flammable vapors requiring deflagration or burning protection, select a model with a certified flame arrester element.

Dimensions and Connections

Available in DN 25 to DN 600. DN 25–40: PN 40; DN 50–150: PN 16; DN 200–600: PN 10. Standard connection is EN 1092-1 flange (type A for DN 25–150, type B1 for DN 200–600). Optional ASME B16.5 Class 150 RF or threaded connections available.

Materials

• Body: carbon steel, optional stainless steel 1.4571
• Weather hood: carbon steel; from DN 200, stainless steel as standard
• Protective mesh: stainless steel 1.4301, optional 1.4571

Sizing and Flow Data

DN selection is based on required breathing flow and permissible pressure drop. Flow curves are provided for air at ρ = 1.29 kg/m³, T = 273 K, atmospheric pressure. For other gases, density correction is required.

Certifications

B3N is supplied without EC certificate and without CE marking. No EN ISO 16852 or ATEX certification for flame arresting is declared.
