JC 916 Three-Way Ball Valve PN16, L-Port Configuration

The JC 916 is a flanged, three-way ball valve with floating ball and full bore design, intended for flow diversion between two lines via 90° rotation. The L-port configuration is used where a common line must be alternately connected to two branches without mixing. Available in DN25–DN200, PN16, with PTFE seats and flanged ends to EN 1092-1 / DIN 2501.

Technical Specifications

  • Body: 1.0619 (carbon steel) or 1.4408 (stainless steel), selected based on media compatibility.
  • Ball: A351 Gr. CF8M stainless steel.
  • Stem: A479 Type 316, anti-blowout design.
  • Seats: PTFE.
  • Stem sealing: graphite packing, FKM O-ring.
  • Design: full bore, split body, antistatic device, pressure equalization hole in cavity.

Operating Conditions & Selection

Pressure–temperature diagram for PTFE seats supports PN16 operation with pressure derating at elevated temperatures, from -29°C to 230°C. Valve selection should consider temperature, differential pressure, operating frequency, and PTFE/FKM compatibility with the process fluid.

Applications

Typical uses include:

  • feed or return line switching,
  • bypass in auxiliary circuits,
  • distribution of water, glycol, thermal fluids, and chemical solutions,
  • installations in petrochemical, energy, pulp & paper, wastewater, and specialty fluid systems.

Automation

Top mounting pad to ISO 5211 allows direct mounting of pneumatic or electric actuators. Actuator selection must account for required torque at maximum differential pressure and L-port orientation.

Is this valve suitable for throttling?
Not as a primary function. Designed for isolation/diversion duties.

When is 1.4408 body material selected?
For corrosive or clean media requiring stainless steel wetted parts.
