Genebre 2118 wafer PN16 ball valve
The Genebre 2118 is a full-bore wafer type ball valve for installation between PN16 flanges. The body is stainless steel CF8M / 316, with stainless steel 316 ball and stem, and PTFE + 15% glass-filled seats. Operating temperature range: -25°C to +180°C, subject to pressure, medium and seat compatibility.
Construction and installation
- Valve type: wafer ball valve, full bore
- Pressure class: PN16
- Body material: CF8M / AISI 316 stainless steel
- Ball and stem: stainless steel 316
- Seats: PTFE + 15% G.F.
- Size range: 1/2" to 4"
- Mounting interface: ISO 5211 actuator pad
Actuation options
The valve can be supplied as a manual valve with locking lever or prepared for direct mounting of pneumatic or electric actuators through the ISO 5211 top flange. Actuator selection should be based on valve torque, differential pressure, duty cycle, fail position, air supply pressure, control voltage and required accessories such as limit switches, solenoid valves or positioners.
Typical applications
- Industrial water and utility water circuits
- Compressed air distribution
- Inert gases
- Compatible chemical liquids
- HVAC plant rooms and process utilities
- Skids and installations with restricted face-to-face length
Suitable media and operating conditions
The valve is generally selected for clean or moderately clean fluids compatible with 316 stainless steel and PTFE/GF seats. For corrosive fluids, solvents, gases or elevated temperature service, the chemical resistance of the body, seats and stem sealing must be checked against the actual concentration, temperature and pressure.
Wafer design compared with flanged split-body valves
The wafer construction reduces the face-to-face dimension compared with a conventional flanged split-body ball valve. It is useful where installation length is limited, but alignment between flanges, bolt selection, gasket compression and pipe support require attention during installation.
Selection checks
- Confirm PN16 pressure class against maximum operating pressure and temperature.
- Verify compatibility with PN16 flange standards and the selected gaskets.
- Check CF8M/316 compatibility with the process medium.
- Check PTFE + 15% G.F. seat suitability for temperature, pressure and chemical exposure.
- For automated service, verify ISO 5211 interface, torque margin and actuator fail mode.
- Consider leakage class requirements, maintenance access and isolation philosophy.
FAQ
Can it be automated?
Yes. The ISO 5211 mounting pad allows direct mounting of pneumatic or electric actuators when correctly sized.
Is it suitable for steam?
Use on steam should be confirmed case by case. Seat material, temperature, pressure and cycling frequency must be checked before selection.
What is the main difference from a standard flanged ball valve?
The wafer version has a shorter installation length and is clamped between flanges, while a flanged split-body valve has integral flanged ends and typically greater face-to-face length.

Certificates
GENEBRE, S.A. has implemented a quality management system to control the designing and manufacturing of fluid control valves, as well as the distribution of home and public taps.
This system complies with the requirements of the current international UNE-EN-ISO 9001:2015, certified by the prestigious German certification organization TÜV Rheinland.
In 2000, GENEBRE began to comply with the European Business Excellence Model, more commonly known as the EFQM. As a result, in 2003, the Catalan Regional Government awarded us with the Quality Award. This new system enables us to ensure the quality of GENEBRE's products and also to offer added value to our clients.
In 2012, we obtained the certification for the Environmental Management System. This system is certified according to the UNE-EN-ISO 14001:2015, also by TÜV Rheinland. GENEBRE QUALITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
