Valpres 7000 Carbon Steel Ball Valve
Two-piece threaded ball valve for on/off isolation in small-bore process and utility lines. The Valpres 7000 series is supplied with an A352 LCB carbon steel body, stainless steel A479 TP304 / CF8 ball and stem, and soft seats for tight shut-off in compatible services.
Technical Data
- Nominal sizes: 1/4” to 2”
- Pressure rating: PN64
- End connections: NPT or ISO 7 Rp threaded ends
- Operating temperature: -20°C to +160°C, subject to seat and seal compatibility
- Vacuum service: down to 10⁻² torr
- Seat materials: PTFE or carbon-filled PTFE
- Stem O-ring: FKM / Viton
- Operation: manual lever as standard
Variants and Sealing Arrangement
Codes 700056 and 700079 use PTFE seats. Codes 700062 and 700077 use carbon-filled PTFE for the seats, thrust washer and stem sealing area. Carbon-filled PTFE is selected where higher mechanical loading, improved wear resistance or more frequent cycling is expected compared with standard PTFE.
Suitable Media and Operating Context
- Water and industrial utility water
- Compressed air and inert gases
- Fuels and compatible hydrocarbons
- Non-corrosive industrial liquids compatible with carbon steel, PTFE and FKM
- Vacuum and low-pressure utility isolation duties within the stated limits
For chemicals, wet gases, sour service or corrosive fluids, material compatibility must be checked against fluid composition, pressure, temperature, concentration and cleaning procedures.
Standards, Certifications and Options
SIL 3, TÜV and ATEX / fire-safe executions are available on request, depending on configuration and project documentation requirements. Manual lever operation is standard. For remote isolation or interlocked service, pneumatic or electric actuator packages should be specified and verified against torque, cycle frequency and valve mounting arrangement.
Selection Notes
The 7000 series is selected when a compact PN64 threaded isolation valve is required with a carbon steel pressure boundary. Use standard PTFE seats for general utility isolation. Select carbon-filled PTFE where seat deformation, cycling frequency or differential pressure loading are more critical.
Typical Industrial Use Cases
- Skid-mounted utility lines and packaged equipment
- Fuel, air and water isolation in industrial plants
- Drain, vent and sampling isolation where threaded PN64 connections are acceptable
- Maintenance isolation upstream of instruments, strainers or small equipment
FAQ
Is this valve suitable for throttling? No. It is a soft-seated ball valve intended primarily for open/close isolation, not continuous flow control.
When should carbon-filled PTFE be specified? Use it for higher seat load, more frequent operation or where standard PTFE may show excessive deformation or wear.
What affects leakage and maintenance? Seat material, stem sealing, operating temperature, media cleanliness, cycling frequency and correct installation torque all influence shut-off and service life.
