Genebre 2011 full bore ball valve

The Genebre 2011 is a two-piece full bore ball valve with female BSP threads to ISO 7-1 / EN 10226-1. The body material is stainless steel CF8 / AISI 304. Standard sealing is based on PTFE + 15% glass fibre seats and a Viton stem O-ring. Rated pressure is PN40, with an operating temperature range of -25°C to +180°C, subject to pressure, media and seat compatibility.

Sizes and operation

Available sizes: 1/2", 3/4" and 1". Operation is by manual lever with locking arrangement. For automated on/off service, verify the availability of a compatible actuated valve configuration or an ISO 5211 mounting interface before specifying pneumatic or electric actuation.

Suitable media

Typical compatible fluids include clean water, compressed air, nitrogen and other non-aggressive inert gases. Chemical compatibility shall be checked against CF8/304 stainless steel, PTFE/GF seats and Viton elastomers. The valve is not selected only by pressure rating; temperature, concentration, cycling frequency and fluid cleanliness affect service life and leakage behaviour.

Full bore versus reduced bore

The full bore design provides a flow passage close to the pipe bore. This reduces pressure drop compared with reduced bore ball valves and is useful where line losses, flushing capability or pigging clearance are part of the selection criteria. Reduced bore valves may be acceptable for simple isolation where pressure loss is not critical.

Sealing and leakage considerations

  • Seats: PTFE with 15% glass fibre for improved dimensional stability compared with virgin PTFE.
  • Stem seal: Viton O-ring; verify suitability for hot water, oils, air and chemical exposure.
  • Service mode: intended for isolation, not throttling. Part-open operation can damage seats and increase leakage risk.

FAQ

Can it be used for steam?
Only after checking the manufacturer’s pressure-temperature limits and seal compatibility. Viton and PTFE/GF limits must be considered.

Is it suitable for throttling?
No. It should be specified as an on/off isolation valve.

When should 316 stainless steel be selected instead?
Use 316/CF8M variants where chlorides, marine exposure or more aggressive chemical conditions are present.
