Ball Valve Split body - Type FE2 | ADLER

ADLER FE2 Split Body Ball Valve

The ADLER FE2 is a two-piece, split body, full bore ball valve for on/off isolation in industrial ANSI Class 150 piping. The range covers DN15 to DN200 and is available with carbon steel, stainless steel or special alloy body materials, selected according to fluid compatibility and plant specification.

Technical Characteristics

  • Connection: flanged ends to ANSI standards
  • Pressure class: 150 lb; PN16 available on request
  • Body materials: ASTM A105, ASTM A351 CF8M, ASTM A479 Type 304 / 316
  • Seat material: PTFE; reinforced PTFE options available
  • Full bore design for low pressure drop and piggable or high-flow service where applicable
  • Anti blow-out stem construction
  • Antistatic device for conductive continuity between ball, stem and body
  • Top flange to ISO 5211 for actuator mounting
  • Chevron stem packing arrangement
  • Double sealing at the body/end connection

Standards and Certifications

Design and dimensional references include EN 12516-2, ASME B16.34, EN 1759-1, ASME B16.5, ISO 14313, ANSI B16.10 and EN 558 basic series 3. Available executions include fire-safe ISO 10497/API 607, BS 6755/API 607/6FA, PED, TPED, ATEX, SIL 3 and ISO 15848 Class A, depending on configuration and project requirements.

Sealing and Construction Options

  • PTFE or reinforced PTFE seats for different pressure, temperature and wear conditions
  • Stem O-ring option where compatible with the service fluid and temperature
  • Stem extension or cryogenic extension for insulated lines or low-temperature service
  • Oxygen service execution with degreasing according to ISO 23208

Actuation Options

  • Manual lever for smaller sizes and low operating torque
  • Manual gearbox for larger sizes or higher differential pressure
  • Pneumatic or electric actuator for remote isolation or interlock service
  • Pneumatic or electropneumatic positioner where controlled intermediate positioning is required

Typical Applications and Media

The valve is used for isolation of water, air, low-pressure steam, utility networks, fuels and process fluids compatible with PTFE seats and the selected body material. Final selection should consider pressure-temperature ratings, differential pressure, cycling frequency, fugitive emission requirements and compatibility with cleaning or flushing fluids.

Split Body Versus Compact One-Piece Valves

The split body construction allows access to seats and internal sealing components during maintenance. This is useful in process lines where seat wear, deposits or leakage checks are expected. Compact one-piece valves may reduce envelope dimensions, but typically offer less access for internal maintenance.

Industrial Use Cases

  • Process isolation upstream and downstream of equipment skids
  • Fuel oil, compressed air and nitrogen utility headers
  • Cooling water and general plant water distribution
  • Low-pressure steam auxiliaries, subject to pressure-temperature verification
  • Actuated emergency or remote shut-off duties when specified with suitable actuator and certification

FAQ

Is the FE2 suitable for throttling?
It is primarily an on/off isolation valve. Continuous throttling may damage soft seats and should be reviewed separately.

Can it be automated?
Yes. The ISO 5211 top flange supports mounting of pneumatic or electric actuators, with accessories selected according to torque, duty cycle and control philosophy.

What limits the operating temperature?
The practical limit is governed by the seat, stem seals, body material and pressure-temperature rating, not by the pressure class alone.
