Ball Valve Split body - Type FG2 | ADLER

ADLER FG2 Split-Body Flanged Ball Valve

The ADLER FG2 is a two-piece, split-body, full-bore ball valve for isolation duties on ASME/ANSI Class 300 flanged piping. Size range is DN15 to DN250, with body and trim configurations in carbon steel, stainless steel, and selected alloy steels.

Technical Characteristics

  • Connection: ASME/ANSI flanged ends
  • Pressure class: Class 300
  • Materials: ASTM A105, ASTM A351 CF8M, ASTM A479 Type 304 / 316
  • Seat material: RPTFE as standard
  • Anti-blowout stem design
  • Antistatic device for conductive continuity
  • Chevron packing rings on the stem
  • Top flange: ISO 5211 for actuator mounting
  • Double sealing at the body/end-piece joint

Standards and Certifications

Design and construction references include EN 12516-2, ASME B16.34, EN 1759-1, ASME B16.5, ISO 14313, ANSI B16.10, and EN 558 basic series 4. Available executions include PED, TPED, ATEX, SIL 3, ISO 15848 Class A fugitive-emission configuration, fire-safe ISO 10497/API 607, and BS 6755/API 607/6FA.

Sealing and Construction Options

  • PTFE or reinforced PTFE seats with glass, carbon, stainless steel, or bronze filler
  • Stem O-ring arrangement where required by service conditions
  • Stem extension or cryogenic extension according to ISO 28921
  • Degreased execution for oxygen service according to ISO 23208
  • Manual lever, gearbox, pneumatic actuator, or electric actuator
  • Pneumatic or electro-pneumatic positioner for modulating or controlled on/off service

Typical Applications and Suitable Media

The valve is used for isolation of steam, water, compressed air, fuels, gases, and industrial liquids. Final selection should verify compatibility of RPTFE or alternative seat compounds with the process fluid, operating temperature, pressure-temperature rating, and body metallurgy.

Variant Selection

  • Carbon steel body: common selection for utilities, hydrocarbons, and general industrial fluids where corrosion risk is controlled.
  • Stainless steel body: used for corrosive fluids, clean utilities, or applications requiring improved chemical resistance.
  • Reinforced seats: selected where pressure, temperature, cycling frequency, or media abrasiveness exceed standard PTFE suitability.
  • Actuated version: selected for remote isolation, interlocked shutdown duty, or process automation.

Comparison with Lower Pressure-Class Valves

Compared with a lower pressure-class flanged ball valve such as FE2, the FG2 Class 300 construction is selected where the piping class, design pressure, or mechanical margin requires ASME Class 300 flanges and wall thickness. The split-body arrangement permits access to the seats during maintenance after depressurisation and line isolation.

FAQ

  • Is the FG2 intended for throttling? It is primarily an isolation valve. Modulating use requires actuator and seat verification.
  • Can it be used on steam? Yes, subject to pressure-temperature limits, seat selection, and condensate/thermal cycling review.
  • Is fire-safe execution available? Yes, configurations according to ISO 10497/API 607 and related standards are available.
