ADLER VN2 Venturi Port Ball Valve

The ADLER VN2 is a two-piece split-body flanged ball valve with Venturi port geometry for DIN PN10 to PN40 piping systems. It is used where a compact reduced-bore valve is acceptable and where full-bore passage is not required.

Standards and Certifications

Design and manufacture are based on EN 12516-2, ASME B16.34, EN 1759-1, ASME B16.5, ISO 14313 and EN 558 basic series 1. Available executions include PED, ATEX, SIL 3, ISO 15848 Class A fugitive emission configuration, oxygen service to ISO 23208, and fire-safe design to ISO 10497/API 607 or BS6755/API 607/6FA.

Suitable Media and Operating Conditions

The valve is suitable for water, air, process gases, fuels and industrial liquids compatible with PTFE seats and the selected body metallurgy. Temperature and pressure limits shall be checked against seat material, pressure class, body material and applicable flange standard.

Venturi Port versus Full Bore

The VN2 Venturi port reduces body size, valve mass and installed volume compared with a full-bore ball valve. The reduced passage introduces a higher local pressure loss and is not suitable for pigging, scraper passage or services requiring unobstructed full-bore flow.

Selection Criteria

  • Select PN rating according to design pressure, temperature and flange specification.
  • Confirm chemical compatibility between the medium, PTFE seat and metallic wetted parts.
  • Use reinforced PTFE seats where higher mechanical load, abrasive tendency or thermal cycling is expected.
  • Specify ISO 15848 Class A where fugitive emission control is required.
  • Specify fire-safe or oxygen-service execution only when required by the process specification.

FAQ

Can the VN2 be used for control service?
It is primarily an isolation valve. Modulating operation may be possible with a positioner, but seat wear, torque and control range must be evaluated.

Is it suitable for piggable pipelines?
No. The Venturi port is reduced bore and should not be selected for pigging or full-bore passage requirements.

Which actuator types can be fitted?
The ISO 5211 top flange allows mounting of pneumatic, electric or actuated packages with positioners, subject to torque verification.
