JC Full-Bore Flanged Ball Valve Type 516Q/540Q/316Q/340Q PN16/PN40

Two-piece split-body ball valve with full-bore flow path and DIN flanged ends, used for isolation in industrial liquid, gas and special-fluid lines. Available in pressure classes PN16 and PN40, with 1.0619 carbon steel or 1.4408 stainless steel body materials and TFM-1600 seats.

Construction

  • Split-body construction for bolted body maintenance
  • Full-bore port to limit pressure drop and allow pigging where the line design permits
  • DIN flanged connection for process pipework
  • Blowout-proof stem design
  • Non-removable anti-static device
  • Cavity pressure equalization hole
  • Live-loaded stem packing for packing load stability during thermal and pressure cycling

Operating Conditions

The valve is intended for open/closed isolation duty, not continuous throttling. Final pressure and temperature limits shall be checked against the manufacturer pressure-temperature chart for the selected PN rating, body material, seat material and stem sealing arrangement. Do not select the valve from PN class alone when service temperature, cyclic pressure or thermal shock is significant.

Standards and Compliance

  • PED pressure equipment compliance
  • MSS SP 55 visual inspection reference for castings
  • ATEX suitability for explosive atmospheres, when specified
  • Fire-safe design according to API 607 / ISO 10497
  • Fugitive emissions reference: ISO 15848 / TA-LUFT
  • Wetted metallic parts referenced for NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 and NACE MR0103 / ISO 17945 compatibility

Typical Applications and Media

  • Oil and gas process lines, hydrocarbon transfer, tank terminals and utility isolation
  • Chemical and petrochemical units with compatible liquids, gases and solvents
  • Power, marine, mining, pulp and paper, food and pharmaceutical utilities
  • Water, air, nitrogen, fuel gases, light hydrocarbons and selected corrosive fluids, subject to material compatibility

Variant Selection

  • PN16: general industrial pressure duties where the pressure-temperature rating is sufficient.
  • PN40: higher design pressure or services requiring a higher rated flanged valve.
  • 1.0619 body: general process fluids, water, gases and hydrocarbon service where carbon steel is acceptable.
  • 1.4408 body: selected for stainless compatibility, corrosive media or plant specifications requiring austenitic stainless steel.
  • TFM-1600 seat: used where lower seat deformation, improved behavior under pressure/temperature cycling and controlled seat leakage are required.

Actuation and Sealing Options

The valve may be specified for manual lever operation, gearbox operation, or automated service with pneumatic or electric actuators. For actuated valves, define fail position, operating torque, cycle frequency, limit switches, solenoid valve, air supply pressure and site electrical classification. Stem packing selection should consider fugitive-emission requirements, fire-safe duty and maintenance access.

FAQ

Can this valve be used for throttling?
It should be used as an isolation valve. Partial opening can increase seat wear, noise, vibration and leakage risk.
When should stainless steel 1.4408 be selected?
Use 1.4408 when the process fluid, cleaning fluid, atmosphere or plant specification requires stainless wetted parts.
What maintenance points are relevant?
Check stem packing leakage, flange gasket condition, operating torque and seat shut-off during planned maintenance intervals.
