Ball Valve Class 600 - Type 660 | JC

JC Type 660 Class 600 Ball Valve

Two-way end-entry ball valve, reduced bore, with ANSI flanged ends for isolation service on high-pressure process lines. Available in ASME Class 600 with ASTM A216 WCB, ASTM A351 CF8M, or ASTM A352 LCC body materials and Nylon seats.

Construction

  • Reduced-bore floating ball design for lower valve weight and reduced installation envelope.
  • Blowout-proof stem for pressure-boundary integrity.
  • Non-removable antistatic device between ball, stem, and body.
  • Pressure equalizing hole in the ball cavity to reduce trapped-pressure effects.
  • Live-loaded stem packing for improved packing load retention during thermal and pressure cycling.
  • ANSI flanged connection, Class 600.

Standards and Compliance

The valve is designed in accordance with API 6D, PED, MSS SP 55, ATEX, Fire-Safe API 607 / ISO 10497 / API 6FA, and Fugitive Emissions ISO 15848 / TA-LUFT requirements. Wetted materials are referenced against NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 and NACE MR0103 / ISO 17945 for sour or refinery service where applicable.

Typical Applications

  • Oil and gas production, processing, and transfer lines.
  • Chemical and petrochemical isolation service.
  • Power generation auxiliary systems and fuel handling.
  • Tank terminals, marine service, mining, and waste treatment plants.
  • Food, pharmaceutical, and special-fluid transfer duties, subject to material compatibility review.

Suitable Media and Operating Conditions

Typical media include hydrocarbons, natural gas, process liquids, compatible chemicals, condensate, and utility gases. Nylon seat selection shall be checked against the manufacturer pressure-temperature chart, differential pressure, fluid composition, solids content, and required shut-off class. Nylon seats are generally not selected for high-temperature steam or abrasive slurry service.

Variant Selection

  • ASTM A216 WCB: common carbon steel body for general hydrocarbon and process service.
  • ASTM A351 CF8M: stainless steel body for corrosive media or chloride-controlled environments.
  • ASTM A352 LCC: low-temperature carbon steel body for cold service, subject to impact test requirements.

Actuation and Sealing Options

The valve may be specified for manual operation by lever or gear operator, or prepared for pneumatic, electric, or hydraulic actuation using a suitable mounting kit. Stem packing and body gasket materials should be selected according to temperature, fugitive-emission requirements, fire-safe duty, and media compatibility.

Engineering Selection Notes

The reduced bore lowers valve mass and cost but introduces additional pressure drop compared with full-bore valves. Verify Cv, allowable velocity, pigging requirements, shut-off direction, cavity pressure relief philosophy, and maintenance access before selection.

FAQ

Is this valve suitable for throttling?
It is primarily an isolation valve. Continuous throttling can damage the ball and seats.

Can it be used in sour service?
Only when the selected materials, bolting, and trim comply with the applicable NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 or NACE MR0103 / ISO 17945 requirements.
