Ball Valve - Type 24000 | Ibor Valves

IBOR Type 24000 Ball Valve

The IBOR 24000 is a 2-way ball valve used for industrial flow isolation in liquid and gas services. It is applied on process lines, utility headers and auxiliary circuits where tight on/off duty, low pressure drop and defined isolation points are required.

Stem, Body Cavity and Sealing Options

  • Extended stem or bonnet for insulated pipework or buried/remote access service.
  • Stem sealing arrangement available for fugitive-emission control where VOC or gas leakage limits apply.
  • Locking device for controlled valve position and maintenance isolation procedures.
  • Drain plug for body cavity draining, venting or pressure relief before maintenance.
  • Seat-area overlay or overlay on all wetted parts for corrosive, erosive or abrasive media.
  • Optional heating or cooling jacket for temperature-sensitive fluids.

End Connections and Applicable Standards

  • Flanged ends: ASME B16.5, GOST 12815-80 or EN 1092-1.
  • Socket-weld ends: ASME B16.11.
  • Butt-weld ends: ASME B16.25.
  • NPT threaded ends: ASME B1.20.1.
  • BSPP or BSPT threaded ends: BS 21.

Typical Media and Operating Conditions

Typical services include steam, condensate, cooling water, compressed air, process gases and hydrocarbons. Allowable pressure class and temperature range depend on the selected body material, end connection rating, seat material and sealing package. Media compatibility must be checked against corrosion, solids content, operating temperature and pressure cycling.

Variant Selection

  • Flanged version: preferred where periodic removal, inspection or gasket replacement is expected.
  • Butt-weld or socket-weld version: used in permanent process installations where flange leakage points are to be minimized.
  • Threaded version: suitable for skid units, vents, drains, sampling points and auxiliary low-to-medium duty circuits.
  • Jacketed version: used for high-viscosity fluids or media that may solidify during no-flow conditions.

Actuation and Operation

The valve may be configured for manual lever or gear operation, or prepared for pneumatic, electric or hydraulic actuation when remote operation, interlocking or process automation is required. Actuator sizing should consider differential pressure, seat friction, operating frequency and fail position requirements.

Maintenance and Leakage Considerations

Selection should account for seat wear, stem packing adjustment, cavity pressure, drainability and the required shutoff class. For hazardous gases or hydrocarbon service, fugitive-emission requirements and site leakage monitoring procedures should be defined at procurement stage.

FAQ

When is overlay required? Overlay is considered when the fluid is corrosive or causes wear at the seat contact area.

When should a heating jacket be specified? For viscous fluids, waxy hydrocarbons or products that must remain above their pour point during shutdown.

Which connection is preferred for permanent process pipework? Welded ends are commonly selected to reduce external leak paths and maintenance on flange joints.
