KITO D14N Vacuum Relief Valve with Flame Arrester

The KITO VS/KG-IIB3, type D14N, is a self-actuated vacuum relief valve designed for terminal installation on tank vent nozzles. It admits air when tank vacuum exceeds the setpoint and incorporates a flame arrester element to prevent flame transmission in systems handling flammable liquids. Typical installation is on tank roofs.

Application Scope

Suitable for storage tanks containing fuels, solvents, and chemical products where discharge, cooling, or vapor condensation may generate vacuum conditions. Certified for use with flammable liquids in explosion group IIB3, with MESG ≥ 0.65 mm and maximum operating temperature of 60 °C.

Dimensions and Connections

Available in DN 50 to DN 300. Flanged connections: PN 16 for DN 50–150, PN 10 for DN 200–300. Optional ASME B16.5 Class 150 RF connection. Vacuum setpoint adjustable from 2 to 60 mbar.

Materials and Construction

Standard body: cast steel 1.0619 with steel cover. Optional: stainless steel 1.4408 or aluminium body (DN 100–300). Seat: stainless steel 1.4571. Gasket: PTFE. Flame arrester element is replaceable.

Valve Disc Options

  • 2 to <3.5 mbar: aluminium disc, FEP & HD3822 seal.
  • ≥3.5 to 14 mbar: stainless steel 1.4571 disc, FEP & HD3822 seal.
  • 14 to 60 mbar: stainless steel 1.4571 disc, PTFE seal.

Sizing Considerations

Valve sizing is based on allowable tank vacuum, required air inflow, gas density, and vent losses. Flow curves refer to air at ρ = 1.29 kg/m³. Rated flows are achieved with 20% accumulation above setpoint.

Yes. Type tested per EN ISO 16852 and CE marked in accordance with ATEX 2014/34/EU.

Actuator Requirement:
No actuator required. Operation is mechanical via differential pressure.

Maintenance Inspection:
Inspect flame arrester element cleanliness, seat and disc condition, seal integrity, and free movement of mechanism.
