Ball Valves - Trunnion Ball Valve type TV | Mei
MEI Type TV Trunnion Mounted Ball Valve
The MEI TV series is a side-entry trunnion mounted ball valve designed for isolation of liquids or gases in industrial pipelines. Available in full bore or reduced bore configurations, with sizes from 1½" to 12"×10" and pressure classes as per ANSI 150, 300, 600, 900, and 1500. End connections are RF or RTJ, depending on pressure rating and size.
Technical Features
- Design: side-entry trunnion ball valve
- Seats: soft seated or metal seated
- Sealing: dual O-rings for external tightness
- Antistatic device: spring or steel ball per API 6D
- Operation: lever, gearbox, pneumatic or electric actuator
- Options: stem extension or gland flange extension
- Pressure parts: forged carbon steel, low-alloy steel, austenitic stainless steel, or special alloys on request per process media.
Trunnion Mounting Logic
The ball is mechanically supported by the stem and trunnion, reducing operating torque and seat loading compared to floating designs. This configuration is suitable for larger DN, higher differential pressures, and lines requiring frequent on/off isolation.
Maintenance Points
Technical drawings indicate drain plug, vent plug, seat injector, stem injector, check valve, and fire-safe gaskets. These features support cavity drainage, venting, emergency sealant injection, and leakage checks prior to maintenance.
Applications
Used for natural gas, hydrocarbons, chemicals, process steam, and industrial gases, provided body/seat materials, pressure class, temperature, and sealing compatibility are verified for the intended service.
FAQ
When is reduced bore selected?
When pressure drop is acceptable and pigging is not required.
What is required for specification?
