Trunnion mounted ball valve with fully welded body, designed for isolation service in liquid or gas pipelines. Available in sizes 2"–60", pressure classes ASME Class 150–1500 / PN16–PN250, carbon steel body material, end connections butt weld (BW) or flanged. Actuation options include manual, pneumatic, electric, electro-hydraulic, or hydraulic.
Welded construction reduces external leakage points compared to bolted body valves. The primary leakage path is the stem, where the datasheet specifies multiple O-ring seals. This design is suitable for lines where frequent body disassembly is not required.
Standard configuration is SPE self-relieving seat, allowing cavity overpressure to vent to the line. DPE (double piston effect) seats seal both sides but require external cavity relief via relief or bleed valve. Combination of upstream self-relief and downstream DPE is also available.
Used in natural gas pipelines, petroleum products, industrial pressure networks, isolation stations, and lines requiring trunnion design for lower operating torque compared to floating ball valves. Not intended for continuous flow regulation.
When to select fully welded over side-entry?
When minimizing external body joints is prioritized over on-site disassembly capability.
