GESTRA GK / TK – High-Capacity Steam Traps
The GESTRA GK and TK series are designed for continuous removal of large condensate volumes at low to medium differential pressures. They are applicable in evaporators, large heat exchangers, boilers, cookers, and chemical and petrochemical processes. The TK 23/24 handles capacities up to 140 t/h, while the GK 11/21 is rated for up to 380 t/h, depending on differential pressure and settings.
TK 23 / TK 24
The TK series features a thermostatic pilot control using membrane capsules.
- DN50–DN100
- TK 23: PN16
- TK 24: PN25
- Standard 5H2 capsules or 0H2 for Δp below 1 bar and operating pressure up to 5 barg
- Δp up to 5 bar with 0H2, up to 10 or 14 bar with 5H2
- Automatic venting of non-condensable gases during startup and operation.
GK 11 / GK 21
The GK series is a thermodynamic stage-nozzle steam trap for high flow rates at low pressure. It includes manual adjustment with a handwheel and travel indicator, as well as an integrated Vaposcope for visual condensate/steam inspection.
- GK 21: DN50–DN100, PN16
- GK 11: DN150, PN10
- Maximum differential pressure: 6 bar
- Flanges EN 1092-2 PN10/PN16.
Application Selection
The TK is preferred when thermostatic response, effective venting, and flow adjustment are required. The GK is selected when manual adjustment is feasible and visual drainage confirmation via sight glass is needed.
Installation and Maintenance
The TK can be installed in any position, preferably with the valve upwards to protect against contaminants. The steam trap or condensate line should not be insulated if it affects thermal response. Gaskets should be replaced during any intervention.
