Swing check valve Cast iron 5K - F7358
Cast Iron Lift Check Valve JIS 5K F7358
Flanged lift check valve (globe pattern) designed for marine water systems and auxiliary low-pressure lines. Although sometimes referenced as a swing type, technical documentation specifies this as a Cast Iron 5K Lift Check Globe Valve. Operation is automatic, actuated by differential line pressure, with no actuator or manual intervention required.
Standards and Testing
- Design standard: JIS F7358-1996
- Test standard: JIS F7400-1996
- Connection class: JIS 5K
- Body hydrostatic test: 1.05 MPa
- Seat test: 0.77–0.4 MPa
Materials of Construction
- Body: FC200 cast iron
- Bonnet: FC200 cast iron
- Disc: BC6 bronze
- Seat: BC6 bronze
- Gasket: non-asbestos
The combination of cast iron body with bronze internal components is suitable for water networks requiring mechanical backflow prevention and compatibility with JIS flanges.
Dimensions
Available in DN50 to DN150. Face-to-face length ranges from 210 mm (DN50) to 480 mm (DN150). Body height increases from 107 mm to 188 mm accordingly.
Operational Characteristics
In lift check configuration, the disc moves axially under flow pressure and reseats when flow ceases or backpressure occurs. Valve selection should consider actual flow rates to ensure the disc remains fully open without oscillation. Low flow velocities may cause noise, vibration, and seat wear.
Typical Applications
- Pump discharge lines
- Shipboard fresh water systems
- Auxiliary cooling circuits
- Service water lines
- Installations with JIS 5K flanges
Maintenance
Inspection should include seat cleaning, free disc movement, bonnet gasket condition, and leak-tightness under reverse pressure. Increased inspection frequency is recommended for water with suspended solids or deposits.
