Swing check valve Bronze 5K - F7371
Bronze Swing Check Valve, JIS 5K F7371
Flanged straight-flow swing check valve for marine piping systems, designed to JIS F7371-1996 and tested per JIS F7400-1996. Operation is mechanical, actuated by line differential pressure without external actuator.
Technical Data
- Type: Swing check (clapper)
- Connection: Flanged
- Pressure class: JIS 5K
- Body, cover, disc: BC6 bronze
- Hydrostatic shell test 5K: 1.05 MPa
- Seat test 5K: 0.77–0.4 MPa
- Dimensions 5K: DN15 to DN40, face-to-face length 110–140 mm
Operation and Selection
Permits flow in one direction; closes when outlet pressure exceeds inlet or upon flow reversal. Used to protect pumps, filters, heat exchangers, and piping from backflow.
Selection criteria:
- Operating pressure per JIS 5K
- Actual flow rate to ensure stable clapper opening
- Horizontal or vertical installation per flow direction
- BC6 bronze compatibility with process medium
- Acceptable seat leakage level
Typical Applications
- Seawater and freshwater cooling circuits
- Bilge and ballast systems (subject to project specification)
- Auxiliary shipboard circuits
- Discharge lines of small pumps
- Shipbuilding installations with JIS flanges
FAQ
Is an actuator required?
No. The valve operates automatically by flow and backpressure.
Is it suitable for steam?
Not recommended without verifying temperature, pressure, and material compatibility.
What should be checked during maintenance?
Seat cleanliness, free clapper movement, pin/hinge wear, and leakage under backpressure conditions.
