GESTRA CB – Wafer Swing Check Valve
The GESTRA CB is a wafer-type swing check valve with a short face-to-face dimension, designed for installation between flanges. The disc opens with flow and closes via two spring assists when flow decreases or reverses. No actuator is provided.
Variants and Connections
- CB 24S: DN50–DN300, PN16, flanges EN 1092 PN6/10/16, ASME Class 125 FF / Class 150 RF.
- CB 26 / CB 26A: DN50–DN300, PN40, flanges EN 1092 PN6/10/16/25/40, ASME Class 125 FF / Class 150/300 RF.
- Face-to-face per EN 558-1, Series 96.
- Disc opening angle: 60°, with stop lugs to limit travel.
Materials and Sealing
CB 26: Body in 1.0460 / A105 for general industrial use. CB 26A: Stainless steel body 1.4571 / AISI 316Ti or 1.4581 (DN300) for corrosive or low-temperature media. CB 24S: Bronze body for saline or seawater, subject to compatibility verification.
Seat options: metal, EPDM, FPM, PTFE, and for specific types, NBR. CB 24S typically uses NBR; CB 26 / CB 26A typically use EPDM.
Applications
Suitable for liquids, gases, and steam. Valve selection depends on body/seat material, temperature, and pressure-temperature rating. Commonly used in steam, condensate, water, utility, air, and general industrial piping systems.
Installation / Limitations
Install in horizontal pipelines or vertical lines with upward flow. Not suitable for pulsating flow from reciprocating pumps/compressors, nor as end-of-line or safety valve. Depressurize, drain, and cool line before maintenance.
FAQ
When is CB 26A selected?
For corrosive media or lower temperature service requiring stainless steel construction.
Is sizing required?
Yes. Flow must be sufficient for stable disc opening; inadequate flow may cause noise, disc flutter, and seat wear.
