Cla-Val 501A – Wafer Swing Check Valve

The Cla-Val 501A is a wafer-type swing check valve designed for installation between ANSI Class 125/150 flanges. The disc opens with flow and closes via a torsion spring, minimizing closure delay during flow interruption. No actuator is required.

Materials and Sealing

For sizes 2"–12", body is ASTM A48 cast iron with electroless nickel plating. Sizes 14"–30" use carbon steel with equivalent surface protection. Disc and shaft are 316 stainless steel. Spring is stainless steel. Seat is Nitrile/Buna-N, with Viton and other seat materials available.

Applications

Used in water distribution, wastewater, fire protection, municipal water, HVAC, and lines requiring short face-to-face dimensions. For chemicals, petroleum, gases, or steam, verify body, O-ring, temperature, and pressure compatibility.

Installation

Install in horizontal pipelines or vertical lines with upward flow. Not recommended for pulsating service or reciprocating compressors. The disc enters the downstream pipe when open; ensure full internal diameter and unobstructed, straight downstream section.
