MEI CV – Wafer Type Swing Check Valve

The MEI CV is a wafer-type swing check valve, self-centering, designed for installation between flanges. The disc opens by differential flow pressure and closes when flow decreases or reverse pressure occurs. No actuator is required for operation.

Technical Specifications

  • Size Range: DN32–DN800 (refer to technical datasheet).
  • Connection: wafer / sandwich type between flanges.
  • Compatible with flanges: UNI PN6, PN10, PN16, PN25 and ANSI 150 RF.
  • Pressure ratings: PN6 6 bar, PN10 10 bar, PN16 16 bar, PN25 25 bar, ANSI150 20 bar.
  • Body materials: zinc plated carbon steel, AISI 316, aluminium bronze.
  • Seat: metal-to-metal or soft sealing NBR, EPDM, PTFE, FKM.

CV vs CS Variant

The CV is a swing check valve available in a wide diameter range and features low weight. Unlike the CS variant, the datasheet specifies that it is not suitable for vertical pipelines with downward flow. For vertical installation, only upward flow and available opening pressure should be considered.

Cracking Pressure

For horizontal flow, minimum cracking pressure depends on DN and disc angle. Indicatively, for 60° opening: 13 mbar for DN32–DN150, 19 mbar for DN200–DN300, 26 mbar for larger sizes. For vertical upward flow: 16, 22, and 32 mbar respectively.

Applications

Suitable for water, air, auxiliary industrial networks, cooling circuits, general liquids, and compatible gases. For seawater, chemicals, or corrosive fluids, verify compatibility of AISI 316 or aluminium bronze body and seat material.

FAQ

When is soft seat selection recommended?
When lower seat leakage is required compared to metal-to-metal sealing.

What should be checked before selection?
DN, PN/Class, body material, seat material, installation orientation, flow rate, pressure drop, and minimum differential opening pressure.
