Angle Tee Blu Zac FATE Filters

Blu Zac FATE filters are permanent Angle Tee type strainers designed for installation in pipelines where flow direction changes and access to the cylindrical basket is required via a flanged cover. Typical applications include water, seawater, hydrocarbons, air, gases, and chemical products, subject to material and temperature compatibility verification.

Construction and Connections

  • Sizes: 2″ to 24″
  • Body: extruded or welded T-joint
  • Flow arrangement: internal or external flow
  • Cover: bolted, with hinge or davit
  • Drain: NPT or flanged + blind
  • Support: with or without mounting base
  • Basket: cylindrical
  • Connections: BW per ANSI B16.25 or flanged ANSI B16.5

Design and Filtration Area

Manufactured in accordance with ASME VIII Div.1, with adaptation possible to other codes such as ASME B31.3. The open filtration area exceeds 300% of inlet cross-section, directly influencing initial pressure drop and cleaning intervals.

Materials

Body options: ASTM A234 WPB, ASTM A420 WPL6, ASTM A403 WP304, or ASTM A403 WP316. Flanges: ASTM A105, A350 LF2, A182 F304, or A182 F316. Basket: AISI 304 or AISI 316. Gasket: spiral wound with graphite and W-316.

Maintenance

Maintenance is annual or when pressure drop exceeds specified limits. Monthly inspection recommended. Procedure: line isolation, removal of blind flange and gasket, basket cleaning, deformation check, gasket replacement, and restart.

FAQ

Is actuator installation possible?
No. This is a passive in-line filter.

When to select Angle Tee vs. Straight Tee?
Angle Tee is used where piping geometry requires a change in direction and filtration within the angled section.

When is a davit required?
For large covers, where mechanical assistance is needed to remove the blind flange.

Description

Permanent filter, right angle, suitable for filtering fluids in either the liquid state (water, seawater, petroleum and its derivatives) or the gaseous state (gas, air, chemical products) through a perforated plate filter element placed perpendicular to the direction of flow.

Obtained from an extruded or welded T-joint, it ensures a large surface area for flow and thus offers a high filtration capacity with a low loss of capacity even at high speeds. The standard equipment includes a screen suitable for high pressures, which is easy to maintain and replace and capable of filtration of more than 300% of the inlet area.

OPEN AREA RATIO = 100 x Mesh Open Area x Screen Area / Inlet area (The calculations are based on the filtering percentage of the mesh’s surface area only.)
