Duplex Skid Basket Strainers Conaco Type 514
Conaco Type 514 are duplex basket strainers supplied in skid-mounted assemblies, designed for industrial pipelines where basket maintenance must be performed without full process shutdown. The duplex configuration allows isolation of one chamber for cleaning while the second remains operational, provided that piping and transfer valves are correctly specified.
Construction Range
- Type: Duplex Skid Basket Strainer, Type 514
- ANSI rating: Class 150 to Class 2500
- Sizes: 2″ to 60″ and above
- Materials: carbon steel, low carbon steel, alloy/high alloy steel, special alloys
Basket and Instrumentation
Baskets can be supplied with double or triple mesh layers, mesh on perforated plate, or mesh-on-mesh. For ferrous particle retention, magnetic assemblies are available. Drain connections with nipples, flanges, valves, or plugs are standard; optional vent and DP gauge ports can be specified.
Lining and Protection
For corrosive media or special installation conditions, epoxy lining, cladding, rubberizing, or project-specified coating systems can be provided. Lining selection must consider chemical compatibility, temperature, flow velocity, and cleaning procedures.
Applications
Used in process water lines, seawater (with suitable materials), fuel, chemical, utility networks, and pump suction. For pumps, verify clean and dirty basket pressure drop against available NPSH.
Selection Criteria
Selection is based on ANSI class, flow rate, mesh size, open basket area, solids size, by-pass/transfer arrangement, maintenance space, and continuous operation requirements.
FAQ
Actuator compatibility?
Not on the strainer itself. Flow transfer is managed via manual or automated valves on the skid.
When to select duplex vs simplex basket strainer?
When basket cleaning must not interrupt line operation.
