Sample Coolers - SC332 - SC532 | ADCA

ADCA SC332 / SC432 / SC532 – Sample Coolers

The ADCA SC332, SC432, and SC532 sample coolers are designed to reduce the temperature of boiler water or steam samples prior to analysis of conductivity, pH, phosphate, or other chemical parameters. Cooling minimizes flashing of hot pressurized samples, which can otherwise result in inaccurate chemical readings and present a burn hazard.

Operating Principle

The sample flows through a stainless steel coil, while cooling water circulates within the cooler body. The flow arrangement is counter-current to optimize heat exchange. The coil must remain fully submerged in water during operation to ensure effective cooling.

Technical Specifications

  • Available models: SC332/SS, SC432/SS, SC532/SS
  • High-pressure versions: SC332H/SS, SC432H/SS, SC532H/SS
  • Body / covers: AISI 304 or AISI 316
  • Coil, fittings, and drain tube: AISI 316Ti / 1.4571
  • Sample connection: tube 10 mm O/D
  • Cooling water: 1/2" for SC332, 3/4" for SC432 and SC532, ISO 7 Rp or NPT

Pressure and Temperature Limits

Body rated for 20 bar at 100°C. Standard coil rating: 130 bar at 300°C, 120 bar at 400°C, 110 bar at 450°C, 100 bar at 500°C. High-pressure (H) versions: coil up to 280 bar at 300°C, 245 bar at 550°C. Minimum operating temperature: -10°C.

Performance

With cooling water at 1 m³/h, 15°C, typical sample flow is 30–60 kg/h with outlet temperature approx. 30°C. For other pressure/temperature conditions or certified values, consult manufacturer calculations.

Installation and Operation

Install vertically. Ensure maximum cooling water flow before opening the sample valve. Cooling water outlet must discharge to drain without isolation valves or restrictions. After commissioning, inspect all connections for leakage within 24 hours.

Applications and Use Cases

  • Boiler water and steam sampling for chemical analysis
  • Process control in power plants, refineries, and industrial steam systems
  • Suitable for water, steam, and compatible process fluids

Variants and Selection

  • Standard and high-pressure (H) versions for different pressure classes
  • Material selection based on media compatibility and corrosion resistance
  • Available with ISO or NPT connections

Maintenance and Safety

  • Periodic inspection for leaks and corrosion recommended
  • Ensure coil remains submerged for effective cooling and sample integrity
  • Follow site safety protocols for handling hot pressurized samples
