OMC DP5-H – Pneumatic Differential Pressure Transmitter

The DP5-H is a pneumatic differential pressure transmitter designed for ΔP measurements in bar, not for low kPa ranges. Measurement is achieved via a mechanical bellows element, with conversion to a pneumatic signal using a flapper-nozzle relay and feedback bellows, operating on a force-balance principle.

Measurement Ranges

  • Bellows A: span 1.7–17 bar, range -25 to +25 bar
  • Bellows B: span 3.5–35 bar, range -50 to +50 bar
  • Bellows C: span 7–70 bar, range -100 to +100 bar
  • Bellows D: span 14–100 bar, range -100 to +100 bar
  • Maximum static pressure: 25 / 50 / 100 / 100 bar per bellows version

Technical Data

  • Output: 20–100 kPa, 0.2–1 bar, 3–15 psi, or 0.2–1 kg/cm²
  • Instrument air supply: 1.4 bar ±0.1
  • Air consumption (steady state): 350 Nl/h
  • Output flow: 1800–2400 Nl/h
  • Accuracy: ±0.5% F.S.D.
  • Ambient temperature: -40 to 120 °C
  • Enclosure protection: IP55 (IEC 529)
  • Process connections: 1/2" NPT-F, adapters for 1/4" NPT-F available

Materials and Options

Body available in galvanized carbon steel A216 WCC or AISI 316L / A351 CF3M. Bellows options: AISI 316L or Monel. Seals: PTFE or Viton. Body bolts: high tensile carbon steel 10.9, AISI 316 Class A4-70 (ISO 3506), or 17-4PH (NACE MR0175).

Typical Applications

  • Pressure drop monitoring across filters and heat exchangers
  • ΔP monitoring in steam, gas, air, or liquid lines
  • Level measurement in pressurized vessels via hydrostatic pressure
  • Pneumatic loops with indicators, recorders, or controllers
  • Installations requiring ATEX 2014/34/EU for Gas Zone 1 / Dust Zone 21

Difference from DP5-A / DP5-D

The DP5-H covers significantly higher ΔP spans, up to 100 bar. Not suitable for low differential pressures (see DP5-B). For high static pressure with lower ΔP, DP5-D is typically considered.

FAQ

Is electrical power required?
No. Operation is based on instrument air supply.

When is zero elevation or zero suppression needed?
For level or other applications where process zero does not correspond to zero differential pressure.

Datasheet and documents

Description

The DP5-H works on the force balance principle and consists of two main units: The measuring unit which detects the differential pressure variation and consists of two forged bodies and a measuring capsule. The transmission unit converts the differential force applied to the measuring element into a proportional output pneumatic signal. The output pressure, generated by a flapper nozzle relay, feeds the feedback bellows with a rising pressure until the balance between bellows force and measuring element is reached. The whole transmission unit is contained within a water-resistant housing.
