KITO E 18 N – Pressure/Vacuum Valve with Inert Gas Connection

The KITO VD/o2-… is a terminal breather valve designed for fixed roof tanks and above-ground storage tanks containing non-flammable liquids under inert gas blanketing. The valve features a lateral connection for inert gas supply, typically nitrogen, and is used where tank pressure control and automatic replenishment of protective gas are required.

Operation

The upper assembly functions as a pressure relief valve, preventing unacceptable overpressure. The lower assembly acts as a vacuum valve, automatically controlling inert gas admission into the tank. The maximum inlet pressure of the inert gas must be monitored relative to the vacuum setpoint.

Sizes and Setpoints

  • DN 50 / 80 / 100
  • Connection: PN 16
  • Optional: ASME 2" / 3" / 4"
  • Vacuum setpoint: approx. 1.6–140 mbar, depending on DN
  • Pressure setpoint: approx. 1.6–115 mbar, depending on DN
  • Higher setpoints available upon technical review

Materials and Sealing

Standard body: carbon steel, optional stainless steel 1.4571. Seat and spindle: stainless steel 1.4571. Seat O-ring: VMQ-FEP, options: Viton, NBR, or VMQ-PFA. Valve sealing: NBR, optional Viton, PTFE, EPDM, or metal; for setpoints ≥100 mbar, PTFE or metal sealing is used.

Connections and Flow Data

Standard flange: EN 1092-1 Type A, optional ASME B16.5 Class 150 RF. Flow rates are specified for air density 1.29 kg/m³ at 273 K, achieved at 40% accumulation above setpoint, per DIN 4119.

Application Note

The E 18 N series is not intended for flammable vapors where flame arresters are required. Supplied without EC certificate and without CE marking as per technical documentation.

Description

KITO® VD/o2-…

  • As end-of-line armature, preferably for non-flammable liquids stored under inert gas, for venting and breathing of fixed roof tanks and above-ground tanks, with lateral connection for the inert gas conduit.
  • The upper valve arrangement, which consists of a pressure valve, prevents the development of inadmissible pressure.
  • The lower valve serves to automatically control the supply of inert gas (e. g. nitro-gen) and adjusts the necessary inert gas pressure in the tank.
  • For the max. admission pressure see setting „vacuum“.
