KITO E 20 N – Pressure/Vacuum Valve with Flame Arrester

The KITO VD/AE-…-IIB3 is a terminal tank breather valve designed for overpressure and vacuum relief. It is installed on tank vent openings and is certified for atmospheric flame transmission protection, but not for endurance burning scenarios.

Application Range

Suitable for explosion group IIB3 media with MESG ≥ 0.65 mm and a maximum operating temperature of 60 °C. Vertical installation on tank roofs is standard, with integrated angle options available. For vertical connections from DN 100, prior technical agreement is required.

Sizes and Settings

• DN 50, 80, 100, 150: PN 16
• DN 200, 250: PN 10
• Alternatively ASME 2" to 10"
• Vacuum setting: approx. 1.9–35 mbar, depending on DN and weight load
• Pressure setting: approx. 1.9–65 mbar
• With body extension: up to 200 mbar for smaller sizes
• Higher settings available in the E 20.1 N series

Materials and Sealing

Standard body material is carbon steel, with stainless steel 1.4571 optional. Seat, shaft, and weights are stainless steel 1.4571. Seat sealing is VMQ-FEP for DN 50–200 and HD 3822 for DN 250, with options for Viton, NBR, VMQ-PFA, or PTFE depending on position. Pallet sealing is NBR, optionally Viton, PTFE, EPDM, or metallic; for settings ≥100 mbar, PTFE or metallic sealing is used.

Connections and Maintenance

Flanges per EN 1092-1 Type B1 or ASME B16.5 Class 150 RF. The flame arrester element is fully replaceable for cleaning, deposit inspection, and gap verification. Flow rates are specified for air at ρ = 1.29 kg/m³ and achieved with 40% accumulation above setpoint, per DIN 4119.

Certification

Type examination certificate available per EN ISO 16852 and marking in accordance with ATEX 2014/34/EU.
