KITO E 20.1 N – Pressure/Vacuum Relief Valve with IIB3 Flame Arrester

The KITO VD/AE-1-…-IIB3 is a terminal tank breather valve designed for both overpressure venting and vacuum relief. The type certificate covers atmospheric flame arresting for explosion group IIB3 media, with MESG ≥ 0.65 mm and a maximum operating temperature of 60 °C.

Difference from E 20 N

The E 20.1 N is specified for higher pressure settings compared to the E 20 N. For lower setpoints, use KITO VD/AE-…-IIB3 / E 20 N. Applications requiring higher setpoints than E 20.1 N allow require technical review.

Sizes and Setpoints

  • DN 50, 80, 100, 150: PN 16
  • DN 200, 250: PN 10
  • Alternatively: ASME 2" to 10"
  • Vacuum setpoint: 6.5–35 mbar to 10–35 mbar, depending on DN
  • Pressure setpoint: >200 to 350 mbar (DN 50–100), >150 to 350 mbar (DN 150), >100 to 350 mbar (DN 200–250)

Installation

Vertical installation on tank roofs is standard, with integrated angle options. For vertical connections from DN 100 upwards, prior technical agreement and on-site support are required.

Materials and Sealing

Standard body: carbon steel; stainless steel 1.4571 optional. Seat, shaft, weights, and spring-loaded parts are stainless steel. Seat O-ring: VMQ-FEP standard, with Viton, NBR, or VMQ-PFA options. Pallet sealing is metallic.

Operation and Maintenance

Pressure pallet is spring-loaded; vacuum pallet is weight-loaded. The flame arrester element is fully replaceable for cleaning, fouling inspection, and gap measurement. Connections: EN 1092-1 Type B1 or ASME B16.5 Class 150 RF.

Standards and Certification

Type-tested to EN ISO 16852 and CE-marked per ATEX 2014/34/EU.
