KITO E 16.9 N – Pressure/Vacuum Relief Valve with Flame Arrester

The KITO VD/MC-IIA-…-A / -K is a terminal breather valve designed for fixed roof storage tanks. It provides overpressure venting and vacuum relief, incorporating integrated flame arrester elements to prevent flame transmission and endurance burning.

Application

Suitable for flammable liquids of explosion group IIA with MESG > 0.9 mm and a maximum operating temperature of 60 °C. Typical installations include fuel, solvent, and volatile organic liquid storage tanks where controlled tank breathing and vapor loss minimization are required.

• DN 80, DN 100, DN 125, DN 150: PN 16
• DN 200, DN 250, DN 300: PN 10
• Optional ASME 3" to 12"
• Vacuum set point: approx. 2.5–70 mbar
• Pressure set point: approx. 1.7–110 mbar
• Higher set points available upon technical review

Construction and Sealing

Standard body material is carbon steel, with stainless steel 1.4571 available. Seat, spindle, and weights are stainless steel 1.4571. Standard seal is NBR, with options for Viton, PTFE, EPDM, or metal-to-metal sealing. For set points ≥100 mbar, PTFE or metal seals are used.

Variants A and K

Type A features a weather cover made of PMMA. Type K includes a stainless steel 1.4571 cover with folding mechanism and thermal element. Flame arrester elements are fully replaceable for inspection, cleaning, or replacement.

Standards and Selection

Flanges per EN 1092-1 Type B1 or ASME B16.5 Class 150 RF. Flow rates are specified for air at 40% accumulation above set point, in accordance with DIN 4119. Supplied with type test certification per EN ISO 16852 and ATEX 2014/34/EU marking.
