KITO E 13.4 N – Pressure/Vacuum Relief Valve with Flame Arrester

The KITO VD/KS-IIB1-… is a terminal tank breather valve with integrated flame arrester, designed for ignition and sustained burning protection. It is installed on storage tank roofs to control venting due to overpressure and vacuum conditions.

Media and Operating Conditions

Suitable for flammable liquids and vapors of explosion group IIB1 with MESG ≥ 0.85 mm and a maximum operating temperature of 60 °C. For alcohols such as ethanol or methanol, additional application review and approval are required.

  • Pressure setting: 10–63 mbar
  • With body extension: up to 200 mbar
  • Flow calculated in air with 40% accumulation above setpoint, per DIN 4119

Construction and Sealing

Body available in carbon steel or stainless steel 1.4571. Seat, spindle, and weights are stainless steel 1.4571. Standard seal is NBR, with options for Viton, PTFE, EPDM, or metal sealing. For pressure ≥100 mbar on the pressure pallet, only PTFE or metal sealing is permitted.

Operating Logic

No electrical or pneumatic actuator required. The vacuum pallet is spring-loaded; the pressure pallet is weight-loaded. The flame arrester element is fully replaceable for cleaning, inspection, or replacement.

Description

KITO® VD/KS-IIB1-…

  • As an end-of-line flame arrester, explosion and endurance burning proof for all inflammable liquids and vapors of explosion group IIB1 and also for alcohols with a maximum experimental safe gap (MESG) ≥ 0.85 mm and an maximum operating temperature of 60 °C.
  • Safety valve for out breathing pipes of storage tanks as a protection against pressure resp. vacuum.
  • By appropriate pressure Adjustment the gasification losses of the storage product are prevented or strongly limited.
  • Installation on top of storage vessels.
  • Available with an explosion and endurance burning proofed condensate drain device.
  • With additional examination and approval, applicable also for alcohols (ethanol, methanol…)
