Needle Valve Genebre 2225 – 6000 psi, ISO 228/1 F/F
Manual needle valve for throttling small flow rates in high-pressure lines. Series 2225 features female threads ISO 228/1, stainless steel construction ASTM A479 Grade 316, and a maximum working pressure of 6000 psi at 38°C, approximately 410 bar.
Technical Specifications
- Sizes: 1/4”, 3/8”, 1/2”, 3/4”, 1”
- Connection: ISO 228/1 female/female
- Body: ASTM A479 Gr.316
- Stem shaft: ASTM A479 Gr.316 with nitrogen treatment
- Packing: PTFE + graphite
- O-ring: FKM
- Operating temperature: -54°C to +232°C
- Kv: 0.30 to 1.40 m³/h, depending on size
Operational Use
The 2225 is selected for manual throttling at higher pressures than the 3000 psi series. It is not a control valve with a characterized control curve and does not replace an actuated valve in a control loop. Actual flow depends on ΔP, Kv, viscosity, temperature, and media cleanliness.
The technical sheet mentions a safety bonnet lock to prevent accidental loosening and a back seating design to protect the packing when the valve is fully open.
Typical Applications
- High-pressure instrumentation lines
- Hydraulic circuits and test benches
- Low-flow bypass
- Clean gases, nitrogen, air, or water
- Chemical media compatible with 316, PTFE/graphite, and FKM
Not the primary choice for slurries, suspended solids, or viscous products due to limited seat cross-section and potential seat leakage.
Difference from 2223 / 2224
The 2225 is a stainless steel series rated at 6000 psi with ISO 228/1 threading. The 2223 and 2224 are stainless steel series rated at 3000 psi, with ISO 228/1 and NPT respectively. Check thread standard, pressure-temperature rating, and Kv before replacement.
FAQ
Is the 6000 psi pressure rating valid across the entire temperature range?
No. The rating is given at 38°C and decreases with increasing temperature, according to the pressure-temperature curve.
What should be checked before selection?
Size ISO 228/1, pressure, temperature, Kv, chemical compatibility, and packing/seat sealing requirements.

GENEBRE, S.A. has implemented a quality management system to control the designing and manufacturing of fluid control valves, as well as the distribution of home and public taps.
This system complies with the requirements of the current international UNE-EN-ISO 9001:2015, certified by the prestigious German certification organization TÜV Rheinland.
In 2000, GENEBRE began to comply with the European Business Excellence Model, more commonly known as the EFQM. As a result, in 2003, the Catalan Regional Government awarded us with the Quality Award. This new system enables us to ensure the quality of GENEBRE's products and also to offer added value to our clients.
In 2012, we obtained the certification for the Environmental Management System. This system is certified according to the UNE-EN-ISO 14001:2015, also by TÜV Rheinland. GENEBRE QUALITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
