Manual needle valve for throttling control of small flows in clean liquid or gas lines. Series 2221 features female threads ISO 228/1, body and bonnet made of carbon steel ASTM A105, needle and stem from stainless steel A182 F6, and stem sealing with PTFE + graphite.
The 2221 is selected for industrial lines where manual flow regulation is required rather than simple on/off isolation. Typical uses include:
Not suitable for slurries, liquids with solids, or media that can cause corrosion to carbon steel.
Flow direction must follow the arrow on the body. Piping should be free from welding residues, and the valve should not bear mechanical loads from misaligned pipes. Tightening is done at the hex ends or body, not from the handwheel.
Periodic operation every six months helps prevent seizing. Leakage from the stem is checked with the gland nut. Seat leakage is usually related to particles between the needle and seat or wear from erosion/corrosion.
Is it a control valve?
No. It is a manual needle valve for local adjustment. Automatic control requires a valve with an actuator and calculated Cv/Kv.
What is checked before supply?
Thread ISO 228, size, pressure/temperature, Kv, media compatibility with A105 and PTFE/graphite, and sealing requirements.
Constr. steel A105, needle stainless steel A182 F316 + Heat Treatment. Gas thread ISO 228-1 F-F. Stem packing: PTFE Max. working pressure 210 bar. Working temperature -20ºC to 250ºC.
