Tecfluid LU – Ultrasonic Level Transmitter

The LU series is designed for continuous level measurement of liquids and solids using ultrasonic technology. The sensor does not contact the process medium. The transducer emits ultrasonic pulses toward the surface, receives the echo, and calculates distance with temperature compensation via an integrated sensor.

Measurement Ranges

• LU91: Liquids 0.35–6 m, solids up to 3.5 m
• LU93: Liquids 0.55–12 m, solids up to 7 m
• LU912: Liquids 0.35–5 m, solids up to 2.5 m
• LU932: Liquids 0.55–10 m, solids up to 5 m

Accuracy: ±2 mm (0.35–2 m range). Resolution: 1 mm. Measurement cycle: 200 ms. Beam angle: 14° at -3 dB.

Outputs & Automation

Analog output: 4–20 mA (active or passive). Up to 2 alarm outputs depending on model. LU9X2: 2-wire, 12–36 VDC supply. LU9X: 4-wire, 18–30 VDC. HART available on LU9XH. Modbus RTU RS485 via MT03L module.

Installation

Mount from tank roof with transducer surface parallel to product surface. Minimum wall clearance: 200 mm. Avoid central mounting except for conical-bottom tanks. Dead zone: 350–550 mm (model dependent).

Applications

Suitable for water, wastewater, chemical and food tanks, powder/granule silos, open channels, and intermediate storage where level-based pump or valve control is required.

Affected by product change?
Generally not, as measurement is based on air gap, not electrical properties of the medium.

When is caution required?
Foam, agitation, mixers, filling inlets, and internal obstructions may cause false echoes and require application review.
