Tecfluid LTDR – Continuous Level Measurement with Guided Radar

The LTDR series is a TDR/guided wave radar level transmitter for continuous measurement in liquids and, with suitable probes, in solids. The device does not use a float. The electronics transmit high-frequency pulses along the probe (rod, coaxial, or cable); level is determined by the time-of-flight of the reflected signal.

Probe Variants

• Single Rod Ø6 or Ø8 mm: General-purpose for liquids; suitable for bypass chambers.
• Coaxial Probe Ø17.2 mm: For clean liquids and low dielectric constant media (e.g., oils, hydrocarbons).
• Cable Ø4 or Ø6 mm: For tall vessels and primarily solids applications.

Technical Selection Limits

• Probe length: 100–3000 mm (rod), 100–6000 mm (coaxial), 1000–20000 mm (cable).
• Accuracy: ±3 mm; repeatability <2 mm; resolution <1 mm.
• Operating pressure: -1 to 40 bar.
• Process temperature: up to +150 °C (rod/cable), up to +250 °C (special version).
• Minimum dielectric constant: >1.8 (rod/cable), >1.4 (coaxial).
• Viscosity: up to 5000 mPa·s (rod/cable), up to 500 mPa·s (coaxial).

Signals and Connection

Standard output is 4–20 mA (12–30 VDC, 4-wire). Programmable PNP output for level alarm (NO/NC selectable). HART communication over analog signal; Modbus RTU available via MT03L.

Applications

Suitable for storage tanks, silos, water/wastewater treatment, food, chemical, petrochemical, and automotive industries. Can be combined with LT level indicators for local display and analog output from bypass chambers.

Standards and Certifications

ATEX versions for gases and dusts (Ex ia/d IIC, Ex ia/t IIIC) per installation category. Wetted materials: EN 1.4404 / AISI 316L, PEEK, optional PTFE coating (single rod).
