Fival TAF NX / NY – Transparent Level Gauge

Fival TAF NX/NY is a transparent glass level gauge designed for local visual monitoring of liquid levels in pressure vessels, steam boilers, condensate tanks, and auxiliary process circuits. The transparent construction allows direct observation of the liquid column, which is essential for level verification as well as visual assessment of color, foaming, or contamination.

Construction

Technical documentation specifies Transparent Level Gauge mod. TAF-NX/NY, Fig. AA, with a pressure rating of PN64. Standard supply flanges are PN40 DN20. The glass is specified as STD type B, 34 mm width.

Main components:

  • Body: carbon steel or stainless steel
  • Covers: carbon steel or stainless steel
  • Bolts: B7
  • Nuts: 2H
  • Upper gasket: asbestos-free
  • Lower gasket: graphite
  • Borosilicate glass
  • Nipples: carbon steel or stainless steel

TAF vs TMF Series

The TAF series features a heavier mechanical design compared to TMF, with PN64 rating and B 34 mm glass. TAF is selected for applications requiring higher pressure margins or reinforced indication compared to lower class gauges.

NX or NY Variant

  • NX: Gauge-to-valve connection via plain tubes and compression fittings.
  • NY: Connection via threaded nipples.

Selection depends on field alignment, disassembly method, and isolation valve arrangement.

Selection Criteria

Specification requires center-to-center distance, connection type, handwheel position (left/right), pressure, operating temperature, and process medium. Size range covers Mis. 11 to Mis. 79.

Maintenance

Inspection includes gasket leakage, glass cleanliness, bolt condition, corrosion signs, and correct operation of isolation/drain valves.
