ADCA MLI – Magnetic Level Indicator

The ADCA MLI is a bypass-type magnetic level indicator designed for continuous local level indication or level control in ADCA ECRU units, skid packages, condensate vessels, and industrial tanks. The process fluid is contained within a metallic chamber rather than a glass tube, reducing potential leakage points compared to conventional sight glasses.

Operating Principle

The float moves inside the bypass chamber according to the vessel level. The magnetic field transmits the float position to the external indicator without direct contact between the indicator and the process fluid. Measurement is less affected by foaming, flashing, or gas bubbles compared to direct visual gauges.

Technical Data

  • Available model: MLI16
  • Connections: flanged EN 1092-1 PN40 or ASME B16.5 Class 300
  • Nominal size: DN25 / 1"
  • PMO: 30 bar
  • TMO: 200°C
  • Body limits: 40 bar at 50°C, 37.9 bar at 100°C, 31.8 bar at 200°C

Materials

  • Chamber, float, lower cover: AISI 316 / 1.4401
  • Plug: AISI 316L / 1.4404
  • Float spring: AISI 302 / 1.4300
  • Indicator rail: aluminium with AISI 316 flaps
  • O-ring: Viton; other materials available upon application review
  • Float suitable for fluid densities 920–1075 kg/m³

Dimensions

Two main versions: MLI350 (length A 350 mm, weight 7.53 kg) and MLI600 (length A 600 mm, weight 8.78 kg). Selection depends on required measurement range and vessel connection distance.

Optional MSB Switches

MSB bistable magnetic change-over reed switches, prewired with 2 m, 3 × 0.75 mm² cable. Used for high/low level alarms or interlock. Technical limits: IP67, -25°C to 70°C ambient, 60 VA/W, 1 A, 250 V AC/DC.

FAQ

When is MLI selected over a glass gauge?
When local indication with a metallic chamber is required, with fewer leakage points and the option to add level switches.

What should be checked before selection?
Pressure, temperature, fluid density, O-ring material, connection distance, and need for alarm or continuous level signal.
