Cla-Val 134-53 Solenoid Shutoff Valve
The Cla-Val 134-53 is a hydraulically operated shutoff valve with a solenoid pilot, designed for remote open/close control in aviation fuel systems. It is classified as a remote shutoff valve for fueling applications, typically installed in Jet A-1 lines, loading/unloading manifolds, and airport ESD (Emergency Shutdown) logic circuits.
Control Operation
The control circuit utilizes a direct-acting 3-way solenoid (CS3XM). The pilot applies or vents pressure to the auxiliary Hytrol valve chamber, which actuates the main valve.
Available control logics:
- 134-53E / 634-53E: energized = open, de-energized = closed. Used where fail-closed operation is required.
- 134-53D / 634-53D: energized = closed, de-energized = open. Selected when loss of power should not close the line.
Main Components
- Main Hytrol valve body
- X101 position indicator or optional X105L limit switch
- X47A ejector
- CS3XM solenoid pilot
- 100-01 auxiliary Hytrol for reverse flow
Connections and Materials
Aviation isolation series are supplied with ANSI flanged connections, pressure ratings of 150, 250, and 300 lbs. Body materials include ASTM A216 WCB, ASTM B62 cast bronze, ductile iron, cast stainless steel 303, and cast aluminum 356-T6.
Field Operation Options
The solenoid is equipped with a manual actuator for operation without electrical power. After manual actuation, the operator must be reset to ensure correct pilot function in the de-energized state.
Optional accessories:
- X46A flow clean strainer or X43 Y-strainer for pilot line protection
- CK2 isolation valves for pilot circuit isolation
- CV closing and opening speed controls
- 81-01 check feature
- Quick connect assemblies for pressure gauges
- 55F thermal relief in combination with check feature
FAQ
When is the E version selected?
When the safe condition on power loss is line closure.
What should be checked at commissioning?
Upstream/downstream valves open, pilot air vented, correct solenoid voltage, manual operator disengaged, and clean strainer elements.
