ADCA S25/S HV / S25/S VH Steam Moisture Separator

The ADCA S25/S HV / VH is a centrifugal moisture separator constructed from carbon steel, designed for steam, compressed air, and other industrial gas lines. Inlet flow enters the body, where centrifugal action, impingement, and turbulence separate water or oil droplets, entrained moisture, particulates, and salts from the main flow. Condensate collects at the bottom and requires automatic drainage via a steam or air trap.

HV and VH Variants

  • S25/S VH: vertical inlet, horizontal outlet.
  • S25/S HV: horizontal inlet, vertical outlet.
  • In both variants, the drain connection must be oriented downward.

Selection between HV and VH is based on piping geometry, available installation space, and the need to avoid additional bends upstream or downstream of the separator.

Technical Specifications

  • Sizes: DN 15 to DN 200
  • Body material: P235GH / 1.0325
  • End caps: P265GH / 1.0425
  • Internal parts: S235JR / 1.0038
  • Connections: EN 1092-1 PN16 or PN40
  • On request: ASME B16.5 Class 150/300, ISO 7 Rp or NPT
  • Min. operating temperature: -10 °C
  • Design: no moving parts, no actuator required

Operating Limits

For PN16 / Class 150: body limits are 16 bar at 50 °C, 14 bar at 100 °C, 12 bar at 250 °C. For saturated steam, PMO is 13 bar at 195 °C. For PN40 / Class 300: 40 bar at 50 °C, 37 bar at 100 °C, 27 bar at 300 °C, with PMO 31 bar at 239 °C.

Applications

  • Removal of entrained moisture in steam lines
  • Protection of pressure reducing valves, control valves, and instrumentation
  • Compressed air lines with condensate or oil carryover
  • Installations requiring flow direction change with simultaneous moisture separation

Installation and Drainage

The lower connection is routed to a steam or air trap station, including isolation valves, strainer, sight glass (if required), and check valve. Piping must be supported to prevent load transfer from thermal expansion, weight, or vibration to the separator body.

Compliance

Pressure rating per EN 1092-1:2018. Design in accordance with AD-Merkblatt. For Group 2 fluids under PED 2014/68/EU, category ranges from SEP to Category 4 depending on DN and PN.
