ADCA S16SS Stainless Steel Centrifugal Moisture Separator

The ADCA S16SS is a stainless steel centrifugal separator designed for steam, compressed air, and other gas lines. The flow is subjected to vortex action and internal impingement, causing water or oil droplets, entrained moisture, particulates, and salts to separate from the main flow due to their higher specific gravity. Collected condensate must be discharged automatically using a suitable steam or air trap.

Technical Specifications

  • Body material: AISI 316L / 1.4404
  • End caps: AISI 316L / 1.4404 or AISI 316Ti / 1.4571
  • Internal parts: AISI 316L / 1.4404
  • Sizes: 1/2” to 2”
  • Connections: Female thread ISO 7 Rp or NPT
  • Pressure classes: PN 16 and PN 40
  • Min. operating temperature: -10 °C
  • Design: No moving parts, no actuator required

Operating Limits

For PN 16: body limits are 16 bar at 50 °C, 15.1 bar at 100 °C, and 11.9 bar at 250 °C. For PN 40: 40 bar, 37.9 bar, and 29.9 bar respectively. Maximum operating pressure for saturated steam at 200 °C is 12.7 bar (PN 16) and 31.8 bar (PN 40). Ratings per EN 1092-1:2018; design per AD-Merkblatt.

Selection and Installation

Select S16SS where wetted parts in stainless steel are required for steam or air networks with moisture, oxides, oil, or entrained solids. Condensate outlet must always face downward. Optional flanged drain connection per EN 1092-1 or ASME B16.5. Top connection can be used for venting or instrumentation.

Typical Applications

  • Upstream of steam pressure reducing valves and control valves
  • Upstream of heat exchangers, heaters, and steam coils
  • Compressed air lines with condensate or oil carryover
  • Protection points for instrumentation and steam traps

FAQ

Is maintenance required?
No spare parts or moving components. Periodic inspection should cover cleaning/flushing, connection tightness, and condensate trap operation.

PED classification?
For Group 2 fluids: PN 16 up to 1” is SEP, larger sizes are CE-marked. For PN 40, 1/2” to 1 1/4” are Category 1, 1 1/2” to 2” are Category 2.
