ADCA S16S Steam Moisture Separator

The ADCA S16S is a centrifugal moisture separator designed for steam, compressed air, and other gas lines. The device induces a swirling flow, causing water or oil droplets, entrained moisture, and particulates to separate from the main flow due to their higher specific gravity. Collected condensate accumulates in the lower chamber and must be discharged via a suitable steam or air/gas trap.

Technical Data

  • Body material: Carbon steel P235GH / 1.0325
  • End caps: P265GH / 1.0425
  • Sizes: 1/2” to 2”
  • Connections: Female threaded ISO 7 Rp or NPT
  • Pressure classes: PN 16 and PN 40
  • Minimum operating temperature: -10 °C
  • Design: No moving parts, no actuator required
  • Optional: Flanged condensate drain connection

Operating Limits

For PN 16: allowable pressure is 16 bar at 50 °C, 14.8 bar at 100 °C, and 12.1 bar at 250 °C. For PN 40: 40 bar, 37.1 bar, and 30.4 bar respectively. Maximum operating pressure with saturated steam at 200 °C is 13.3 bar (PN 16) and 33.3 bar (PN 40).

Installation and Drainage

Install the S16S with the condensate outlet facing downward. The lower connection should be piped to a steam trap station with isolation valves, strainer, sight glass (if required), and a check valve on the discharge. Verify operating pressure, backpressure, and condensate load for each application.

Standards and Compliance

Pressure rating per EN 1092-1:2018. Design in accordance with AD-Merkblatt. Suitable for Group 2 fluids under PED 2014/68/EU, SEP or CE marked depending on size and pressure class.

Typical Applications

  • Main saturated steam lines
  • Upstream of pressure reducing valves or heat exchangers
  • Compressed air lines with moisture or oil carryover
  • Protection of instrumentation, control valves, and steam traps from entrained droplets

FAQ

Is maintenance required?
No moving parts. Inspection focuses on drainage, trap operation, and connection tightness.

Can it be installed without a steam trap?
Not in steam service. Collected condensate must be discharged automatically.
