Centrifugal Separator ADCA AS

The ADCA AS centrifugal separator is designed for closed-loop hydraulic circuits in heating, cooling, and pumping systems, where removal of air and solid contaminants from the process fluid is required. Operation is based on centrifugal action, directing suspended solids and entrained air bubbles away from the main flow and collecting them in a lower chamber.

Application Scope

Typical installations include:

  • Boiler rooms and heat exchangers
  • Central HVAC networks
  • Chiller circuits upstream of pump suction
  • Water networks with risk of sand, welding residues, or foreign particle deposition

Installation is recommended at points of higher temperature and lower pressure, where gas solubility in water decreases. The separator is mounted horizontally, with the drain oriented downward.

Technical Specifications

  • Sizes: DN 32 to DN 300
  • Connections: EN 1092-1 PN 16 or ASME B16.5 Class 150 flanges; special executions on request
  • Available versions: carbon steel or stainless steel body, with or without internal filter
  • Design: no moving parts
  • Optional: ADCA AE automatic air vent connection
  • Material certification: EN 10204 3.1 available on order

Version Selection

The AS/F version incorporates an internal filter for retention of particulates within the separator body. This reduces fouling of external line filters and limits pressure drop increase, as solids are removed from the main flow path.

Maintenance

Isolation valves upstream and downstream are required. For systems that cannot be shut down, a manual bypass can be provided. Models with internal filters require periodic inspection, at least annually, for filter and internal surface cleaning.

FAQ

Is it suitable for steam?
The AS series is specified for liquid water circuits in heating, cooling, and pumping applications.

Where should it be installed?
Downstream of boilers or heat exchangers, upstream of chillers, and before pump suction.
