Steam Valve Comeval UNIFLOW FIG. 89

The Comeval UNIFLOW FIG. 89 is a forged globe valve designed for unidirectional flow isolation in steam, air, gas, oil, water, and industrial fluid lines compatible with its construction materials. Flow enters below the seat, and installation must follow the arrow on the body.

Construction

  • Designed per API 602.
  • Forged body, bolted bonnet, outside screw & yoke.
  • Rising handwheel as standard operation.
  • Stem sealing with flexible graphite packing.
  • Back seat for specific configurations.
  • Metal seated disc with hard faced trim option.
  • Connections: NPT per ASME B1.20.1, BSP per ISO 228-1, BSPT per ISO 7-1, and socket weld per ASME B16.11.

Selection Range

FIG. 89 covers DN10–DN50 in Class 800 and Class 1500, with materials like ASTM A105N, A350 LF2, A182 F11/F22, F304/F316, and duplex F51/F53. The product page also mentions pressure class options up to 2500 lbs, but Class 2500 corresponds to series 87 and should be verified in the order code.

Standards and Certifications

  • Design: API 602.
  • Pressure-temperature rating: ASME B16.34.
  • Marking: MSS SP-25.
  • Testing: API 598.
  • Compliance with PED 2014/68/EU and Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.
  • Available EAC and ATEX compliance declarations, depending on application.

Applications

Suitable for auxiliary and main lines in:

  • boiler rooms and steam networks,
  • power and chemical processes,
  • oil & gas auxiliary circuits,
  • high-pressure HVAC,
  • service lines with small DN and high pressure class.

Selection and Maintenance Considerations

Selection should be based on medium, temperature, pressure class, body/trim material, pressure drop, and shut-off or throttling requirement. For throttling, an appropriate plug is needed. Globe valves have higher pressure drops than gate or ball valves but allow better throttling control when configured accordingly.

In steam applications, gradual heating, condensate drainage, and slow operation are required to avoid water hammer. Leakage from packing is initially addressed by careful gland tightening; excessive tightening increases torque and reduces packing lifespan.

Description

Metal seated globe valves, unidirectional, for stopping the flow in process, power and oil&gas applications. The atmospheric sealing is achieved by flexible graphite rings or by bellows. Operated by handwheel, gear or actuator. Weir body leads to higher pressure drop compared to gate or ball valves but operation is quicker and this feature allows to use the valve as regulating valve when arranged with throttling plug.

Specification of the range:

Diverse design combinations by pattern of construction (straight through, angle, Y type), plug designs (marginal, regulating, non-return, balancing, V-port, stellited, soft seal), bellows seal and secondary sealing designs, end connections (flanged, BW, SW, threads), materials of construction (cast and forged) and trims, nominal size range (DN10-DN500 / 3/8-2"), design pressure range (PN16-420 / ANSI Class 150-2500), as well as operation style and accessories.

Applications: HVAC,lubrication, steam, gases, etc.
