Comeval Gate Valve Fig. 99

The Comeval Fig. 99 is a forged steel gate valve with metal seat designed for flow isolation in small diameters DN10–DN50 / 3/8"–2". It is a linear motion valve, bidirectional, featuring a solid wedge, bolted bonnet, outside screw & yoke, and rising stem. Its operation is on/off; it should not be used for flow regulation.

Standards and Connections

  • Design: API 602
  • Pressure class: Class 800 and Class 1500 for Series 99
  • Pressure/temperature rating: ASME B16.34
  • Testing: API 598
  • Marking: MSS SP-25
  • Ends: NPT per ASME B1.20.1, BSP per ISO 228-1, BSPT per ISO 7-1, or socket weld per ASME B16.11
  • Compliance: PED 2014/68/EU and Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC for use within the EU

Materials and Sealing

Available body materials include ASTM A105N, A350 LF2, A182 F11/F22, F304/F304L, F316/F316L, and duplex F51/F53. Trims feature seats and gates made from 13Cr, stainless steel, or duplex, with hard-faced options for increased wear, corrosion, or erosion resistance. Stem sealing is achieved with flexible graphite packing, while body-bonnet connection uses a metal/graphite gasket.

Industrial Applications

Used in steam, thermal oil, compressed air, gases, lubrication circuits, process fluids, and auxiliary networks in power, chemical, and oil & gas sectors. Selection is based on pressure, temperature, material compatibility, connection type, and atmospheric sealing requirements.

Installation and Maintenance

Line flushing is required before startup to remove debris, welding residues, and foreign bodies. In case of stem leakage, controlled tightening of the packing gland is necessary without excessive torque increase. In steam networks, gradual preheating, condensate drainage, and slow operation are required to prevent water hammer.

FAQ

Difference from Fig. 96: Fig. 99 primarily covers Class 800/1500, while Fig. 96 of the same series is for Class 2500.
Suitable for throttling? No, only fully open or closed positions.
When to choose socket weld? In high pressure, thermal cycles, or when piping specifications avoid threads.
