Comeval Gate Valve Fig. 97

The Comeval Fig. 97 is a forged steel gate valve with metal seats designed for flow isolation in small diameters, high pressure, and industrial process networks. It features linear motion, bidirectional flow, OS&Y rising stem, solid wedge, and bolted bonnet. It is intended for on/off service and is not recommended for throttling.

Technical Specifications

  • Design: API 602
  • Pressure Class: ANSI Class 800 and Class 1500
  • Sizes: DN10–DN50 / 3/8"–2"
  • Ends: NPT per ASME B1.20.1, BSP per ISO 228-1, BSPT per ISO 7-1, socket weld per ASME B16.11
  • Testing: API 598
  • Marking: MSS SP-25
  • Pressure/Temperature Rating: ASME B16.34
  • Operation: Handwheel, with gear or actuator options available.

Materials and Sealing

Available in ASTM A105N, A350 LF2, A182 F11/F22, F304/F304L, F316/F316L, and duplex F51/F53. Trims include A276 410, 304, 316, or duplex, with hard-faced surface options for increased wear resistance on seats. Stem sealing is achieved with flexible graphite packing; options include bellows seal, extended bonnet, and limit switches.

Applications

Suitable for steam, HTF, compressed air, gases, lubricant circuits, auxiliary networks in power plants, chemical installations, and oil & gas service. Compatibility should be verified concerning fluid, temperature, corrosion, body material, trim, and packing.

Difference from Fig. 96

Fig. 97 covers Class 800/1500. For Class 2500, Fig. 96 of the same forged series is used. Selection is based on design pressure, temperature, end connection, and piping specification.

FAQ

Is it used for throttling?
No. A partially open position can cause erosion on seats and wedge.

When is socket weld selected?
In higher pressure, thermal cycles, or when threaded connection is not acceptable.

What is checked for stem leakage?
The condition and tightness of the graphite packing, without overloading the gland.
