Gate Valve Comeval Fig. 96

The Fig. 96 is a forged steel gate valve with metal seats designed for flow isolation in small diameters and high-pressure applications. It functions as an on/off valve and is not suitable for throttling, as intermediate positions increase wear on seats and gate.

Key Technical Specifications

  • Pressure/Temperature Rating: ASME B16.34
  • Operation: Bidirectional, OS&Y rising stem, solid wedge, handwheel as standard configuration.

Materials and Sealing

Available body materials include ASTM A105N, A350 LF2, A182 F11/F22, A182 F304/F304L, F316/F316L, F51/F53. Trim options are A276 410, 304, 316, or duplex, with hard-faced surfaces available for increased corrosion/erosion resistance. Atmospheric sealing is achieved with flexible graphite packing; bellows seal can be considered for special requirements.

Applications

Suitable for steam lines, thermal oil, process fluids, compressed air, gases, lubrication circuits, and power/oil & gas auxiliary networks. Chemical compatibility should be verified against body material, trim, packing, and operating temperature.

Selection vs. Fig. 97/99

Fig. 96 is selected for Class 2500 / PN420 pressure range. For lower pressure requirements, Fig. 97/99 cover Class 800/1500 with corresponding material and connection logic.

Maintenance and Inspections

In case of stem leakage, controlled tightening of the gland is performed without overloading the packing. Line cleaning is required before startup, especially in socket weld installations, to prevent weld particles from scratching metal seats.

FAQ

Used for flow regulation? No, only fully open or closed position.
When to choose SW over threaded? In high pressure, thermal cycles, or when specification prohibits threads.
PED compliance available? Documentation indicates potential compliance with PED 2014/68/EU, depending on configuration and equipment category.
